VEHICLE FIRE ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY NEAR CRAB ORCHARD
On November 12, 2025, at 1:12 PM Central Time, a vehicle fire erupted on Interstate 40 westbound in Cumberland County, Tennessee, at mile marker 333. The incident has blocked the westbound left lane of the two-lane highway as well as the left shoulder, forcing all westbound traffic into a single lane and significantly reducing capacity on this busy stretch of I-40.
Emergency crews are on scene battling the blaze, which has produced heavy smoke visible for miles and prompted the Tennessee Highway Patrol to issue urgent alerts for motorists to slow down, move over, and expect substantial delays.
Commuters traveling between Nashville and Knoxville are being advised to avoid the area if possible or anticipate extended travel times.
As of now, no injuries have been reported, but the blockage is expected to remain in place until the scene is fully cleared and deemed safe for normal traffic flow.
