VEHICLE FLIPS INTO DITCH ON I-40 EASTBOUND IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
A single-vehicle accident disrupted traffic on Interstate 40 eastbound midday Friday, leaving two Tennessee residents with possible injuries after their car overturned into a ditch.
According to dispatch logs, emergency crews were called to the scene at I-40 Eastbound, mile marker 335.4, at approximately 11:55 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026.
The vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet HHR driven by 26-year-old Derrick William of Tennessee, was traveling eastbound when it veered off the roadway. The small four-door vehicle subsequently overturned, landing upside down in a ditch along the right shoulder.
A passenger in the vehicle, 39-year-old Jennifer Howard, also of Tennessee, was present at the time of the crash. First responders dispatched to the scene categorized the incident as a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries.
The current condition of both William and Howard has not yet been released, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
