(Story revised after Tennessee Highway Patrol sent a correction in who was arrested)

A vehicle pursuit involving Cumberland and Fentress County authorities as well as the Tennessee Highway Patrol ended just after noon today.

The chase started when a trooper spotted a red Ford Taurus near Potato Farm Road supposedly occupied by Kevin Woods of Robertson County who is a jail escapee. Law enforcement engaged but the actual driver, 50-year-old Marcus Woods of Lewisburg, led them north on Highway 127 towards Fentress County at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour at times.

The pursuit went into Fentress County heading to Jamestown. Woods nearly collided head on with a car occupied by a woman and a child. The chase ended north of Pall Mall when Marcus Woods crashed the Taurus. He was taken into custody.
