VEHICLE VS. TRACTOR-TRAILER ACCIDENT BACKS UP TRAFFIC ON I-40

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle accident on I-40 westbound at the 321 mile marker in Cumberland County just after noon yesterday. Troopers say a 2002 Honda Accord driven by 28-year-old Nathan Russell of Columbia, Tennessee passed a tractor-trailer operated by 47-year-old John Williams of Burnettsville, Kentucky then lost control. The Honda then collided with the Freightliner and came to rest in the median. No injuries were reported. Russell was charged with reckless driving, operating vehicle on a suspended license, simple possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. A passenger with him, 27-year-old Alicia Thompson of Pulaski, Tennessee, was cited for a seatbelt violation.
