VICTIM FINDS STOLEN TRAILER IN CROSSVILLE AND ABLE TO REPOSSES IT AFTER A YEAR LATER

Crossville, TN- Monday Cumberland County deputies were dispatched to a residence off Perry Creek Drive in Crossville in reference to a complainant locating their stolen property.

Boyd Kline had reported a car-hauler trailer valued at $12,000 stolen out of White County in January 2022. He believed a man named Adam B. Smith had stolen his trailer. He stated he had gone to the residence himself and located the trailer behind the garage. That’s when he called dispatch.

When deputies arrived, they were able to spot the trailer from the roadway. When speaking with the owner of the residence, he alleged it was his son’s trailer and he had no idea it was stolen.

After a search warrant was served, deputies were able to observe the trailer and identified it as the one Mr. Kline had reported stolen. Stickers that had originally been on the trailer, were scratched off, the wooden deck had been painted brown, and the identifying numbers had been scrapped off.

Due to the information being given, 42-year-old Adam Brian Smith was determined as being the individual who stole the trailer. He is currently incarcerated in another state, but warrants were signed to charge Mr. Smith with Theft of Property (over $10,000) and Altercation of Distinguishing Numbers.
