A large group of volunteers with the Watts Bar Lake Association helped clean up just over 20,000 pounds of trash from the reservoir during a recent shoreline cleanup.

That’s 6,500 more pounds than what they collected last year.

Of that total, nearly 14,000 pounds of tires, trash, and debris came from Watts Bar Lake inside Roane County, 4,500 pounds out of the lake in Rhea County, and just over 2,200 pounds in the waterway in Meigs County.
