WATER RATES MAY BE DISCUSSED AT OLIVER SPRINGS COUNCIL MEETING THURSDAY

The Oliver Springs Town Council will meet Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at City Hall. At last month’s meeting, the water board decided to raise customers’ water rates 5.5 percent. City Manager Thomas McCormick says it’s all about being able to receive free money from the state to fix aging water lines.

Little has been said as to whether property taxes will also go up; the council will discuss that during the Thursday meeting, when the proposed budget could get passed and a date for a public hearing on the budget may be set.
