WAYNE COUNTY, KENTUCKY DEPUTIES LOOKING FOR DRIVER WHO STRUCK A RESCUE SQUAD MEMBER

Wayne County, Kentucky Sheriff Tim Catron is seeking the public’s help in identifying a vehicle and its operator. This vehicle struck a Wayne County Rescue Squad member conducting a traffic control roadblock on West Kentucky Highway 90 during a fatal accident investigation. The vehicle turned left from Furnace Mountain Road onto East Kentucky Highway 90 where the roadblock was set up then turned onto Old Kentucky Highway 90 Loop towards Kentucky Highway 1546. Rescue squad personnel directed the vehicle to stop. However, the vehicle refused to stop and then struck one of them. The squad member was transported to the Wayne County Hospital, treated and later released.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:05 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020. The involved vehicle is described as a silver or gray Jeep Cherokee Laredo with a Kentucky license plate with the first 3 characters being 070. The male driver is also described as having gray/salt and pepper hair.
