WELL KNOWN MEDIA CONSULTANT/PUBLISHER DON NAPIER PASSES

Longtime Crossville media consultant/publisher Don Napier has passed at 74 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Napier’s 50-year career began as a sports reporter for the Herald-Citizen in the early 1970’s, before he returned home to Celina in 1976 at the age of 26 to found the Clay Citizen—a weekly newspaper now known as the Citizen-Statesman, after Napier sold the Citizen and it was merged with the Clay Statesman in 1984.
The Clay Citizen was recognized as the best small newspaper in the state in 1983 and received numerous Tennessee Press Association/Tennessee Press Service awards during its existence.
Besides the Citizen and the Horizon, Napier also founded other publications—including the Fairfield Glade Vista and Crossville Life Magazine. Additionally, he was on staff at the Nashville Tennessean, Nashville Banner, Crossville Chronicle, and other newspapers throughout his career.

In addition to being an editor or publisher for various publications, Don has been a staff member of multiple daily or semi-weekly newspapers, and has been a correspondent for larger metropolitan dailies. The main focus of his past 20 years has been advertising and public relations, and he and his wife Natalie were the owners of Napier Media Services, a full-service PR and media relations firm and published the “Crossville Life” magazine.

He is survived by his wife, Natalie (Ingram) Napier; daughters, Lyndi Napier and Laura Napier-Stevens and husband Kyle; brother, Jack Napier and wife Mara; sisters, Betsy Holtam and Husband Merrill: Linda Strong and husband Jerry; and sister-in-law, Pam Napier; brother-in-law Stephen and wife Debbie; brother-in-law Timothy and wife Julie; brother-in-law Michael and wife Angelyn; and brother-in-law Nathan and wife Katie. He is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Napier; sister-in-law, Lindy Ingram; sister-in-law, Melissa Ingram; great-nephew, Sawyer McIntosh and father-and mother-in-law, Burton and Laura Ingram.

Visitation will be held at Crossville Church of Christ on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be conducted at the church on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Fitzgerald Cemetery in Celina, TN on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
