WILDFIRES CONTINUE TO BURN ACROSS EAST TENNESSEE COUNTIES
Wildfires continue to burn across East Tennessee due to unusually warm and dry conditions, including several in Campbell County, Oliver Springs and Anderson County. Caryville residents reported dense smoke Monday from several fires making breathing difficult. Forestry crews continue to work there and in Oliver Springs where a blaze had been reported along E. Spring St. FD Officials say that 25 wildfires, as of Monday, scorched 1250 acres. 16 of those fires are being investigated as arsons. Fires started as a result of debris burning in Roane, Morgan, Anderson and Blount Counties. Firefighters hope to get some relief on Thursday, when a cold front is expected to move through the area, bringing with it a chance for rain and cooler temperatures beginning this weekend.
