WILDFIRES RAGE IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY DURING WIND STORM

Several wildfires developed in Western Cumberland County last night. These wildfires resulted in limited evacuations in Browntown and Frasier communities, with people being evacuated to Pleasant Hill Elementary School.

Fairfield Glade police would also post a fire evacuation near St. George place later that night.

Current speculation, though not confirmed, is that one or more of the wildfires was sparked by power lines landing on the ground during the dry weather due to the harsh winds from the storms last night.

At around 10:55 p.m. last night, Tennessee State Forestry and Cumberland County Fire departments lifted the evacuation notice for the Browntown area, with Fairfield Glade Fire Department following suit shortly. Rain late into the night helped alleviate some of the blaze into a state that it could be controlled.

75 acres were caught in the fire that impacted Browntown Rd. As of 1 a.m. this morning, the fire was deemed 50% contained.
