WOMAN ARRESTED FLEEING ARREST INTO ROCKWOOD GOLF COURSE

A female driver was arrested and taken to Roane County Jail after an accident on Highway 70 near the Rockwood Golf Course entrance around 12:30 PM today. Rockwood Police Chief Kelly Pittman reported that Officer Jacob Cunningham observed the driver of a gray Nissan fail to stop at a stop sign on North Kingston Avenue at Highway 70 and noted an expired registration.
When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled eastbound on Highway 70, veered into the golf course grass area, spun around, and attempted to head westbound before crashing into a guardrail. A vehicle search revealed illegal narcotics.
The unidentified female, believed to be from Rockwood, faces multiple charges. The Tennessee Highway Patrol handled the accident report involving damage to Rockwood property to avoid a conflict of interest. More details will be provided once the suspect is booked.
