WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DUI OFF I-40 EXIT 317

On April 16, 2025, at approximately 12:05 AM, Deputy Zachary Early conducted a traffic stop on a white GMC SUV at the Exxon off exit 317 due to a non-functional driver’s side headlight and an expired license plate. The driver, identified as Tammy Miller exhibited signs of alcohol impairment, including the odor of alcohol on her breath, watery eyes, and slurred speech.
Miller admitted to consuming a shot of vodka earlier that evening.
Deputy Early performed standardized field sobriety tests, which Miller agreed to undertake, confirming she had no medical conditions preventing participation. During the horizontal gaze nystagmus test, Miller showed all six possible clues of impairment. In the walk-and-turn test, she displayed five out of eight clues, including stepping offline, using arms for balance, and an improper turn. She was unable to perform the one-leg stand, leading to the test’s termination for safety reasons.
Based on these observations and test results, Deputy Early arrested Miller for driving under the influence.
She was handcuffed, transported to the Justice Center for booking, and made spontaneous statements during transport admitting to being heavily affected by vodka.
