WOMAN ARRESTED WITH MULTIPLE CHARGES AFTER FLEEING FROM DEPUTIES IN WESTEL

Westel, TN- On Sunday, a Cumberland County deputy observed a driver of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to maintain their lane. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Westel Road however, the driver of the vehicle slowed down nearly to a stop, yet took off again. The deputy noted that he followed the driver with his lights and sirens activated, yet the driver continued past 14 driveways and 2 county roads before the vehicle finally stopped at the end of Westel Road and Highway 70 East.

The driver was identified as 42-year-old Shelly Shull who refused to exit the vehicle. While trying to physically remove Shelly from the vehicle, she allegedly struck the deputy and then grabbed onto the steering wheel refusing to listen to commands. With the assistance of another deputy, they were finally able to remove Shelly from the vehicle and detain her.

During a search, over 5 grams of a crystal-like substance that is believed to be methamphetamine, several clear baggies, marijuana, and lots of drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe and grinder were all located.

According to the report, Shelly exhibited dilated pupils, spontaneous utterances, and irate belligerent behavior. She refused to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. A warrant for a blood draw was granted.

  • MAN, DEL., SELL, OR POSSESS METH -Bond: 20,000
  • MFG/DEL/SELL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE -Bond: 8,000
  • SIMPLE POSSESSION -Bond: 5,000
  • UNLAWFUL POSSESSION DRUG PARAPHERNALIA -Bond: 2,000
  • DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE -Bond: 3,000
