WOMAN CHARGED WITH STEALING FROM RHEA COUNTY ANGEL TREE TOY DONATIONS

It’s a sad day when someone chooses to steal from a holiday donation jar. A Rhea County woman has been charged with stealing from a Sheriff’s Angel Tree Toy Drive donation canister. 38-year-old Bridgette Godsey is an employee at the Local Market convenience store on 3rd Ave. The store manager found the canister empty and, after reviewing surveillance footage, found the thief to be Godsey, who works third shift. Godsey has been charged with theft under $500. Thee RCSD Angel Tree Toy Drive is the county’s largest toy drive. Jeff Knight of the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department encourages those in falling on desperate times to seek social assistance from a local non-profit before stealing from children.
