A woman wanted on charges in Fentress County has been captured by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Troopers pulled over a vehicle this past Thursday on I-40 in Putnam County for a traffic violation. A female in the vehicle allegedly gave a false name to officers. She was later identified as 32-year-old Stephanie Marie Briggs. She was wanted in Fentress County for failing to appear in court on charges of jail escape, theft, aggravated assault, assault on an officer, and other offenses related to her escape from the Fentress County jail back in 2019. During that escape, Briggs reportedly stole a police car.
