BBBTV12 – A single-vehicle accident occurred late last night on Interstate 40 eastbound near the 342-mile marker on Rockwood Mountain. At approximately 10:30 p.m., a car flipped onto its roof, prompting an emergency response.

Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries in the crash. However, the driver, identified as 41-year-old Beth Welsh, was taken into custody by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Welsh faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and failure to exercise due care. As of late this afternoon, she remained in custody at the county jail.

A passenger in the vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The accident remains under investigation by authorities.
