YOUTH RUNNER HONORS FALLEN BLOUNT COUNTY DEPUTY JUSTIN MOWERY WITH MILE RUN
The Blount County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to Running 4 Heroes Inc. for honoring fallen Deputy Justin Mowery, who died in an automobile crash on December 28, 2025. On the evening of January 8, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time, youth runner Morgan will complete mile 2,079 (his 87th mile) in Deputy Mowery’s memory, carrying the Thin Blue Line flag during a run in Brick, New Jersey.
Sheriff James Lee Berrong invited the public to watch the event live on the Running 4 Heroes Facebook page or to participate by walking or running a mile in their own communities to pay tribute to the deputy.
The organization encourages donations to support their 2026 initiative and the purchase of sponsored flags in honor of fallen first responders, while emphasizing that runs require a first responder’s presence for safety and asking for continued prayers for Deputy Mowery’s family and agency.
