1.5 MILLION VISITORS EXPECTED IN TENNESSEE FOR ECLIPSE VIEWING

This is the day that the entire world has looked forward to for over a year. Residents of Tennessee have been preparing and are ready for “The Great American Solar Eclipse” of 2017 as it cuts a path from the northwestern corner to the southeastern portion of the United States. The path follows the same course from Middle to Eastern Tennessee putting cities like Nashville, Crossville and Spring City in the eclipse’s “path of totality”: Which means that as the Moon’s shadow crosses between the Earth and Sun, that part of the country will see “nighttime” for approximately one and one half minutes. That time is expected to be around 1:27-1:30 PM. Most school systems in the path have closed for today and most banking institutions and several businesses have planned on closing for one hour, from 1:00 until 2 PM, in order to give employees a chance to join in the viewing of the spectacle. An estimated1.5 million visitors have migrated to the state, and motels, hotels and campsites are full to the brim. Extra law enforcement personnel have been brought in to handle traffic conditions along with extra medical personnel to take care of safety concerns. One of the biggest concerns is the actual viewing of the eclipse itself. Special-type glasses are recommended for the viewing as it cannot be looked at with the naked eye or regular sunglasses, and many are taking advantage of the situation to charge outrageous sums of money for them. 1057 News suggests you take the special precautions that have been mentioned throughout the time of the eclipse, and stay safe.
