10 OPTIONS FOR EXPANDING DOWNTOWN PARKING IN CROSSVILLE TO BE CONSIDERED BY CITY COUNCIL

The Crossville City Council in their work session this afternoon will explore ten options for expanding downtown parking. The council can approach each as a stand-alone project and additional ADA accessible parking may be needed. Here are the 10 options under consideration:

OPTION 1 – Gold area on map below next to Lantana Road

This area is behind Express Lunch (between South Main Street and West Avenue) and would make way for 45 new parking stalls. The estimated cost of this project is $180,980.75

OPTION 2 – gold area on map below next to Lantana Road

This area is behind and beside Express Lunch and would be an add on to option one for 58 parking stalls including option 1 area. The estimated cost is $294,582.56

OPTION 3 – green area on map

This is the Craven’s Building parking lot at the corner of Thurman Avenue, East First Street and East Stanley Street. Existing parking areas to be restriped to meet parking requirements resulting in 32 public parking stalls after restriping. The estimated cost is $44,796.50

OPTION 4 – green area on map

This is the Craven’s Building parking lot and used car lot at the corner of Thurman Avenue, East First Street, East Stanley Street and East Street. This would be an add on to option 3 resulting in 68 parking stalls. The estimated cost is $133,324.69

OPTION 5 – purple area on map

This area is beside the old Blacksmith Shop at the corner of Thurman Avenue, East Second Street and East Street. This is near the library, court house and amphitheater. This would produce 33 new parking stalls. The estimated cost is $100,180.60

OPTION 6 – yellow area on map

This area is behind Mitchell’s Drugs at the corner of West Fifth Street and Rector Avenue near the Crossville Depot making way for 27 new parking stalls. The estimated cost is $69,735.56

OPTION 7 – blue area on map

This area is on Thurman Avenue next to Hotel Taylor’s Parking Lot (Dr. Morrison) as a stand-alone project making way for 32 new parking stalls. The estimated cost is $77,985.44

OPTION 8 – blue area on map

This is on Thurman Avenue next to Hotel Taylor’s Parking Lot (Dr. Morrison) based upon having an easement to use adjoining parking lot’s driving aisle. This would create 44 new parking stalls at an estimated cost of $85,758.10

OPTION 9 – blue area on map

At the corner of Thurman Avenue and East Fifth street next to Hotel Taylor’s Parking Lot (Dr. Morrison). This would be a stand-alone parking lot and not connected to existing parking lot. This option would create 61 new parking stalls at an estimated cost of 260,158.38

OPTION 10 – blue area on map

At the corner of Thurman Avenue and East Fifth street based upon having an easement to use adjoining parking lot’s driving aisle. This would create 68 new parking stalls at an estimated cost of $268,141.45

The city council this afternoon can accept one or more options to send for a vote at their meeting December 8, 2020.
