11-YEAR-OLD FINDS HANDGUN AT SCHOOL BUS STOP AND ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS HIMSELF

An 11-year-old boy who police say accidentally shot himself with a gun he found at a school bus stop, is recovering. Not many details are known at this time, but authorities in Memphis say that the boy was at the bus stop Tuesday when he found the small handgun, which discharged hitting him in the hand. The boy was transported to Methodist South Hospital by his grandmother. He was later transferred to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital for further treatment. This is one of five accidental shootings which took place in the Memphis area in August and September which involved children. Three of those shootings were fatal.
