MEDICAL EXAMINER REQUESTS AUTOPSY IN DEATH OF ROANE COUNTY QUADRIPLEGIC

Roane County Medical Examiner Dr. Thomas Boduch ordered an autopsy in the death of a quadriplegic.
Shawn Aldrich died on July 19. He was taken to Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge with a gunshot wound to his head.
“It happened at an apartment in Oak Ridge, but it was on the Roane County side,” Boduch said. “He was still alive at the scene and he was taken to Methodist. He barely had a pulse, but he died at Methodist.”
Aldrich was 48. Brought to Methodist Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head,” the order for autopsy said. “Decedent was functional quadriplegia with ALS and Parkinson’s Disease. He and caregiver were naked on scene.” Boduch said Aldrich’s death is still under investigation.
“The autopsy is still pending,” he said. “It was done Saturday, so we don’t have any results back yet.”
The case is being investigated by Oak Ridge police.
