2 NEW ETHICS VIOLATION CHARGES NOW ALLEGE WORKPLACE HOSTILITY BY CROSSVILLE COUNCILMAN SOUZA
Last Friday, 13 ethics violation charges involving a city council member and his father, a city employee, were submitted to the Crossville City Attorney by City Council Member Pete Souza. Now 1057 News has learned that on the same day, two additional ethics charges were also made against Souza by the city employee who was included in the original 13 charges. Jerry Kerley, father of Council Member Jesse Kerley and Director of Water Resources for the City of Crossville, submitted the charges to Attorney William Ridley and accuses Souza of verbally and physically assaulting him during a confrontation on June 2nd at City Hall. Souza says in the original Ethics violation charges that he was accosted by the Kerleys. Kerley’s second charge claims that Souza’s allegations are creating a hostile environment at his job. Ridley says that Kerley’s first charge cannot be considered since it’s part of a criminal investigation by the District Attorney’s Office but the second charge will be added to the original set of charges that he suggests be addressed at a future special-called city council meeting.
