31-YEAR-OLD MAN FACES COURT AFTER EVADING POLICE AND CRASHING WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN CAR
Daniel T. Crawford, 31, is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on Thursday, May 28, 2026, on multiple criminal and traffic charges stemming from a single-vehicle crash on May 3, 2026.
While evading the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department at around 12:49 p.m., Crawford was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette north on Genesis Road in Crossville. He lost control of the vehicle in a right curve, ran off the roadway, struck an earth embankment, and collided with a tree. Crawford, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. The car carried two juvenile passengers—a 6-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl from Tennessee—who were properly restrained in seatbelts but sustained injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
Crawford faces two counts of aggravated child abuse/neglect/endangerment, as well as felony reckless endangerment involving a vehicle, reckless driving, evading arrest (flight in a vehicle), and resisting stop/arrest/search. Additional traffic charges include failure to maintain financial responsibility, improper display of registration plates, illegally tinted windows, child restraint violations, seatbelt violations for adults, and failing to exercise due care as a driver. He is represented by a public defender.
