METH, FIREARM CHARGES LEVELED AGAINST CROSSVILLE MAN

When Cumberland County deputies conducted a routine traffic stop Friday afternoon, the driver – 28-year-old Jacob Lasaro Mayberry of  Crossville – appeared overly  nervous. He was speaking rapidly and making furtive movements with both hands toward his jacket pockets.

When deputies asked whether there were any illegal narcotics in the vehicle, Mayberry’s passenger admitted there was pot in the van.

Mayberry was found to have pot in his pocket, along with an Oxycodone pill and nearly a gram of meth.

Mayberry also alerted deputies to a Taurus G2C 9mm pistol  between the driver and passenger seats, with a magazine holding six rounds; another magazine containing 11 rounds was found in the driver-side door, as was a set of digital scales with white powdery residue.

Mayberry was charged with manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth, two counts of simple possession and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was placed under $9,500 bond and has a court date January 14.
