EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK TAKEN IN HOME BURGLARY

Cumberland County deputies performing extra patrols at a homeowner’s request came upon an unlocked side door on a residence on the 500 block of Casteel Road in Sparta Wednesday evening. According to the report, the deadbolt was also unlocked and the entire kitchen was found to be “dismantled and in disarray.”

In contacting the homeowner, who lives in Indiana, deputies were told the home had been in “livable condition” when her family departed in September.

Items taken include a cast-iron kitchen sink, cabinets and countertops, Whirlpool appliances (stove, microwave and dishwasher), a kitchen table and chairs, and a glass table taken from the back deck. The total value of items stolen is estimated at $32,300.

The owner identified two possible suspects, who may have had a key to the residence. She further explained the house is the subject of a lawsuit involving the former owner and Rocky Top Realty.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
