FENTRESS COUNTY SETTLES THREE LAWSUITS STEMMING FROM FORMER SHERIFF CHARLES CRAVENS SEX CHARGES, PAYS $300,000 TO PLAINTIFFS

Fentress County has officially settled with three plaintiffs in suits stemming from the conduct of former Sheriff Charles S. “Chucky” Cravens, Cravens is currently serving time in federal prison for having sex with three female inmates in return for special treatment while the inmates were in jail.,
The three plaintiff’s got $100,000 each, coming at a total cost of $300,000 to the county general fund.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the potential cost to the County if they didn’t settle could end up being even more than the settlement if the county ended up liable for attorneys fees and the judgment awards. The County opted to settle the claims and to have these cases dismissed and the matters closed.”
