CUMBERLAND COUNTY DEPUTIES INVOLVED IN HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT THURSDAY

Thursday, Cumberland County deputies were involved in a high-speed chase on Highway 70 West. Officers clocked an oncoming vehicle as traveling 65 mph in a 55-mph zone. As deputies attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle in question sped up, turning onto Browntown Road. As deputies tried again to stop the driver, he became more reckless, traveling across the double yellow line and passing oncoming vehicles. The driver slowed at the Frazier Road intersection, and a male passenger jumped out. The driver then turned back toward Highway 70 West. Another deputy was able to deploy spike strips near Old State Highway and, after traveling two miles, the vehicle stopped with the driver fleeing on foot. The driver, 36-year-old Lee Thomas Narramore, was eventually apprehended. Narramore was charged with two counts of evading arrest and one count of reckless driving. The passenger was also recovered and was released with no charges.
