“JACK DANIELS” ARRESTED FOR DUI, DRIVING ON REVOKED LICENSE
During a traffic stop, Cumberland County deputies on U.S. Highway 127 encountered 58-year-old Donald Eugene Gilley, who had an odor of alcohol coming from his vehicle. When asked if he’d been drinking, Gilley slurred that he had not.
A records check indicated Gilley’s license had been revoked for a prior DUI.
Deputies asked Gilley to step out of the vehicle to perform field-sobriety tests. Gilly staggered and appeared unsteady on his feet and said he could not complete the tests.
He refused consent to a breath or blood sample to determine his level of impairment.
Gilley was charged with DUI, driving on a revoked license and violation of the implied-consent law. He was placed under $6,000 bond and is due in court June 10.
When asked to sign the implied-consent paperwork, he signed his name “ Jack Daniels.”
