The Rhea County Commission approved allocating nearly $60,000 to fund two fishing tournaments early next year. The funds will be taken from hotel/motel tax revenue, which is designated for economic development opportunities. The tournaments to be held in February 2020 should bring in a total of over 350 boats and is expected to bring a sharp rise to hotel and restaurant revenues. An official announcement on the two tournaments is expected soon.
