BREAKING NEWS: SUICIDE SHOOTING REPORTED AT ROCKWOOD WALMART PARKING LOT

A full investigation has been launched by the TBI in an officer-involved shooting incident which involved a suicide at the Rockwood Walmart Tuesday afternoon. Rockwood Police Chief Bill Stinnett told 1057 News that the victim’s father reported to police that his son was suicidal and gave them the description of the vehicle he was in. Officers spotted the car enter the Walmart parking lot around 1:30 PM. Upon their approach, officers noted the male subject, who has not been identified, allegedly brandishing a handgun in their direction. According to reports, a deputy did fire a single shot, which did not hit the subject. It was then, Chief Stinnett said, that the man turned the gun on himself and fired. Investigators are still on the scene, which has been cordoned off. 1057 News will have additional information as it is made available.
