Roane County deputies recently responded to a home on the 1300 block of Mountain View Road for a breaking and entering call. Officers reportedly observed a vehicle matching the description of one leaving the scene and attempted to pull over the driver, 35-year-old Michael Steven Gibson. A chase began on Highway 70 to Highway 27 towards Rhea County. The pursuit ended near the observatory when Gibson reportedly turned onto a small ATV trail and hit a tree head on. Gibson fled the vehicle on foot and was caught a short time later. He was charged with reckless driving, manufacture sale and delivery of a Schedule II drug, and two counts of reckless endangerment. The report did not indicate if Gibson was the one involved in the breaking and entering call.
