PEDESTRIAN STRUCK AND KILLED BY VEHICLE ON I-40 IN LOUDON COUNTY

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was killed after being hit by two vehicles on I-40 near the I-40/I-75 split in Loudon County early Monday morning. Officers say 47-year-old Robert Basher III of Pickens, South Carolina was suspected to have been walking along the side of the roadway after his vehicle broke down when the accident happened. The report released today states Basher was first hit by a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by 67-year-old Christy White of Oklahoma then by a 1995 Acura driven by 21-year-old Marc Ebersberger of Cookeville. Both vehicles pulled over immediately after impact. Pickens passed away at the scene from critical injuries.
