FOOD BANKS RECEIVE MONEY FROM VEC CUSTOMER SHARE PROGRAM

Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC) recognizes the urgent need of those members who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the support of VEC management, the VEC Customers Share Board has voted to distribute all program funds in April and May to food banks across the VEC service territory.

In total VEC Customers Shares donated $26,550 in April and $27,315 in May. The Tennessee Valley Authority Community Care Fund has matched $25,075 and has more pending. Their generosity combined with our VEC Customers Shares program is projected to provide more than $80,000 to our community’s food banks.

The May VEC Customers Share funds were distributed between 9 different food banks: Cumberland Good Samaritan ($3,035), West Polk County Baptist Food Bank ($3,035), Calhoun Charleston Food Pantry ($3,035), Meigs Ministries ($3,035), Bags of Blessings – Meadowview Baptist Church ($3,035), Fentress County Food Bank ($3,035), Five Loaves Food Pantry ($3,035), Helping Hands Community Food Pantry ($3,035), and Salem Baptist ($3,035).
