EXECUTIVE ORDER 50 WILL DELAY START OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IN TENNESSEE

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order 50 extends the state of emergency in the state because of COVID-19 until August 29 with several stipulations. One is regarding contact sports on the high school level. The TSSAA says member schools cannot have any competition or scrimmage with other schools and cannot have close contact activities during their fundamental practice of football, girls soccer, wrestling and basketball. Officials say the high school football and girls’ soccer season will not start as originally scheduled. The TSSAA is working on an alternative plan to try to salvage most of the season and post season play.
