LOOPER TAKES PLEA DEAL IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASES IN OVERTON COUNTY
A man charged with two counts of attempted murder in Overton County appeared in criminal court this week. Officers say 37-year-old Casey Wayne Looper was involved in a domestic incident on Allen Chapel Road back in April 2019. Deputies with the Overton and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded. Looper allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle and struck a deputy. The officer was later treated for injuries. Other officers fired on Looper’s vehicle disabling it. In court yesterday, Looper took a plea deal for the attempted murder charges to downgrade to two counts of aggravated assault and received 13 years each in prison to run concurrent.
