In a special called meeting last night, the Cumberland County Board of Education voted to continue benefits until the end of this school year providing 80 hours of leave for staff affected by COVID-19. It was previously granted under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act but expired December 31, 2020 and has not been renewed on a federal level. The decision by the school board is to ensure teachers and staff will still receive pay should they be quarantined as a result of the coronavirus.
