Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong says a 53-year-old citizen of Alcoa died in a vehicle accident on Alcoa Highway yesterday afternoon.

Jeffrey N. Livingston was pronounced dead at U.T. Medical Center. The driver of the other vehicle, 43-year-old Misty D. Letner of Alcoa, is in critical but stable condition at U.T. Medical Center.

The crash took place at Airport Plaza Boulevard at Alcoa Highway.  Witnesses told deputies a 2020 GMC Yukon driven Letner was traveling northbound on Alcoa Highway when a 2002 Honda Accord, driven by Livingston, pulled out from Airport Plaza Boulevard onto Alcoa Highway and into the path of Letner, causing the two vehicles to collide.

Sheriff Berrong cautions those traveling the area of Alcoa Highway to obey the speed limit and be observant of the construction areas and the other vehicles traveling the highway and access roads.
