PRELIMINARY HEARING HELD FOR MURDER SUSPECTS RIDENOUR AND COOK

A preliminary hearing took place for 21-year-old Casey Lee Ridenour and 33-year-old Sam Lee Cook. Both are charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of 37-year-old Aaron Brown. His body was discovered in the water off of the Little Emory boat ramp in Roane County last December. The medical examiner said the cause of death was strangulation with a seat belt. After hearing evidence presented, Judge Stevens bound the cases over to a grand jury. District Attorney General Russell Johnson indicated it would be presented to them when they meet next in June. As of yesterday, Ridenour and Cook remain in the Roane County jail.
