A resident of Pomona Road in Cumberland County fell victim to a scam. He informed deputies he got a call yesterday from an individual claiming to be with Publishers Clearing House saying the homeowner won a Dodge truck and money. The victim in his 70’s was told he had to pay taxes on the winnings. He sent thousands by wire transfer to sites in Jamaica, Connecticut and Maine as well as purchased money cards and gave the caller the codes off the back. Total monetary loss at the time of the report was in excess of $4,000.
