DOLLY PARTON ELECTED INTO ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

Dolly Parton is one of six acts elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Hall announced the newest slate of inductees Wednesday morning. Parton, who has been a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame since 1999, initially tried to decline the nomination.

Dolly said, “I don’t feel that I have earned that right.” She later backtracked and said she would accept the honor “gracefully,” adding, “it was always my belief that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was for the people in rock music, and I have found out lately that it’s not necessarily that.”

She joins Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, and Lionel Richie in the Class of 2022’s Performer category.

In a video announcing the newest inductees, Rock Hall President/CEO Greg Harris described them as all having “a significant impact on rock and roll, the music that connects us all.”

An official induction ceremony will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, in Los Angeles. It will be recorded to run at a later date on HBO and HBO Max.
