NEW DETAILS ON OFFICER AND MURDERER WHO ESCAPED ALABAMA

The U.S. Marshals Service said Sunday that they are offering up to $10,000 for information about an escaped inmate and a “missing and endangered” correctional officer who disappeared Friday after the two left jail in north Alabama.

There is now a warrant out for Vicki White, age 58, for assisting in the escape. According to the state police, she is described by law enforcement as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 160 pounds. She has brown eyes and blond or strawberry blond hair, according to state police.

Casey Cole White, 38, had been jailed on a capital murder charge in the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama. He is described as being a 6”9’ white man weighing 260 pounds. He has hazel eyes and tattoos on his back and left shoulder.

Vicki and Casey were last seen in a gold/copper 2007 Ford Edge with Alabama plates.  The U.S. Marshals Service said they are believed to be armed with an AR-15 and shotgun.

After nearly 17 years with the Lauderdale County sheriff’s office, Vicki White was to work her last day before retirement on Friday, Sheriff Rick Singleton said she had been talking about retirement and going to the beach for three or four months. In the weeks before she disappeared, Vicki White sold her home in Lexington, Alabama.

White, the jail’s assistant director of corrections, told other employees she was taking Casey White to the courthouse for a mental health evaluation on the day they disappeared. But the sheriff says there was no evaluation scheduled. She’d said she planned to drop the inmate off at the courthouse before going to her own doctor’s appointment because she was feeling unwell. County Sheriff, Singleton said a protocol had already been established where two deputies are required for the transportation of all inmates. The sheriff believed the booking officer may not have questioned Vicki White — who was that person’s boss — when she claimed she would leave the inmate with other deputies. It also remains unclear whether or not the deputy and the inmate were involved in a relationship, though Alabama law classifies sexual contact with an inmate by an employee as custodial sexual misconduct, a class C felony.
