Roane County authorities released the names of the two men involved in a shooting this morning (Tuesday, May 2, 2017) in Rockwood. Officers along with medical first responders went to the scene at 200 East Wheeler Street just before 8 this morning to find the driver of a truck, Michael Hale, shot in the abdomen. Authorities say Hale was giving another man, Jason Hackler, a ride when Hackler allegedly attempted to rob Hale. After being shot, Hale was able to escape his truck and flag down an oncoming car to call for help. Hackler was located by police with an injury to his hand. Hackler was transported to an area hospital by ambulance while Hale was transported by Lifestar to U.T. Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Officers say both men knew each other prior to the incident taking place. The Tennessee Bureau of Invesigtation and the district attorney’s office is assisting the Rockwood Police Department in the case. Officers say charges are pending against Hackler.
