WOMAN SAYS TWO MEN CAME IN HER HOUSE UNINVITED AND STOLE HER CHECKBOOK

Crossville, TN- According to a police report, a man came into the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office last week to report an incident that happened in February where he believes the victim’s checkbook was stolen.

A 91-year-old woman stated that two uninvited males walked into her residence off Sparta Highway and told her they were there to work on her chimney. One of the males, however, stayed in the dining room area where the victim keeps her purse. The woman told the two males that she was calling her husband to see if he scheduled them, but they left. That’s when it is believed they stole her checkbook.

Two checks had tried to be cashed out of the victim’s account. One check was made out to a male name Thomas Tribke for $13,953.00 and noted for “Reimbursement”. The other check was made out to a woman by the name of Judy Simpson who tried to cash it in Nashville.

Luckily, the money was never pulled from the victim’s account due to them being canceled.

This case is under investigation.
