CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL APPOINTS NEW MUNICIPAL JUDGE

The Crossville City Council met in a special session today and appointed a new municipal judge.

In a letter dated September 12, 2023, to Crossville Mayor R.J. Crawford, Ivy Gardner Mayberry formally resigned as municipal court judge and administrative hearing officer.

She stated in the letter her career goals have changed over the past several years, and she feels the time has come for her to pursue another opportunity.

Six local attorneys expressed interest in the vacant position.

The six were Nathan Clouse, Tiffany S. Adams, Kevin D. Poore, Hayden T. Shadden, Jeffrey A. Vires, and Brett A. York.

Each council member voted for their two top picks interested in serving as a judge. The results included Poore, Adams, Shadden, and York.

Council members then cast one vote each for who they wanted to be municipal judge.

Adams received two votes, and York, Poore, and Shadden received one each.

The selection needed to be the majority of the council or receive three votes.

A final round of voting took place. Adams picked up the third vote needed to appoint her municipal judge.

She will be sworn in as municipal judge on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

Adams brings a lot of law experience to the seat of municipal judge. She is an attorney specializing in civil claims, personal injury, social security disability, land contracts, deeds, estates, and settlement negotiations.

She also served as the administrative hearing officer for the City of Crossville.
