TWO IN CROSSVILLE ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED ARSON

Crossville police and firefighters recently responded to a home at 51 Obed Street for a structure fire with people still inside.

Officers saw smoke coming from the apartment and encountered a subject inside trying to get water to put out the fire. The blaze was at the rear of the dwelling at the base of a wall. Police observed a pile of leaves collected, placed on the wall below a bedroom window, and set on fire. The blaze had reached the gutters, causing damage.

Crews put the fire out.

No injuries were reported.

A witness told law enforcement a male subject wearing a mask and a female left the scene before the fire started.

Officers later identified the suspects as 34-year-old Sean Hyatt and 36-year-old Jennifer Avans, both of Crossville.

They were located near Rural King. Hyatt reportedly still had the mask seen by witnesses on his head.

Police arrested Hyatt and Avans for aggravated arson.
