THOMPSON ARRAIGNED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY ON CHARGES INCLUDING VEHICULAR HOMICIDE

A Cumberland County man indicted for vehicular homicide was arraigned in criminal court yesterday.
The indictments against 45-year-old Tony Curtis Thompson of Crossville state in December 2022, he was involved in a vehicle crash resulting in the death of Roger Thompson.
Tony Thompson also faces offenses of DUI and aggravated vehicular assault. Court officials say he has three previous DUI convictions in Cumberland County, one in 2001 and two in 2006.
After his arraignment yesterday, the judge set a new court date of February 9, 2024.
As of this morning (Thursday, January 25, 2024), Thompson remains in the Cumberland County jail under a $1 million bond.
An arraignment is usually the first court date in a criminal case. At an arraignment, a defendant finds out what they’re charged with and what rights they have. If they can’t afford a lawyer, the judge can appoint one for them. The judge also sets the next court dates.
