CROSSVILLE MAN DIES AFTER STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN FLORIDA

A Cumberland County man recently lost his life in Florida after being hit by a vehicle.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the incident happened on January 21 at State Road 50 (East Colonial Drive) and Exeter Street in Bithlo, Florida (east of Orlando).
The accident involved a 2017 Ford Escape traveling westbound on State Road 50. The vehicle, occupied by a 17-year-old driver, a 16-year-old passenger from Titusville, and a 20-year-old passenger from Cocoa, collided with a pedestrian identified as 34-year-old Malcolm Payne from Crossville.
According to the highway patrol, Payne was walking in a southerly direction and entered the westbound lanes of State Road 50, not within a marked crosswalk.
Tragically, the front right of the Ford Escape struck Payne, resulting in fatal injuries.
The driver and passengers of the vehicle were unharmed and remained on the scene.
Payne was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing by the Florida Highway Patrol.
