POLICE: DAVIS ARRESTED AFTER STEALING CUMBERLAND COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION TRUCK

Crossville police went to the Dollar General Market yesterday for a suspicious male tracking black paint throughout the store and outside to a truck belonging to the Cumberland County Board of Education.

The arrest report states officers encountered 23-year-old Lonnie Paul Davis of Crossville holding Dollar General stickers in his hands.

His shoes, pants, and hands were covered in black and white paint.

Police noticed the wheels on the driver’s side of the board of education truck smeared with black paint. The BOE decal on the door was covered with white paint.

Davis reportedly told police he placed Dollar General stickers all over the truck thinking it belonged to a friend of his. The stickers were placed on the mirrors, around the license plate, fender, and hood areas.

Officers noticed a large knife in the pants pocket of Davis. They seized it while continuing to interview Davis.

Law enforcement went to Cumberland County High School and discovered a chain was cut off the maintenance gate behind the cafeteria. Surveillance video showed a man matching the clothing and physical description of Davis getting into and driving away in the truck.

The estimated damage caused by the vandalism was $3,000.

The value of the truck was set at $5,500.

The items Davis allegedly removed from the school while allegedly stealing the vehicle was set at $3,000.

Officers reportedly found 1 gram of meth on Davis.

He was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of meth, theft of property, vandalism, burglary, and driving on a revoked or suspended license.
