Yesterday, the Tennessee Valley Authority met in Florence, AL, and voted unanimously to increase rates, which may impact electricity bills in East Tennessee.

The 5.25% increase will take effect October 1 2024 and could cause an estimated additional $4.35 on user’s bills.

Also included in the meeting were reports on TVA’s finances, rates, and portfolio, an operations and nuclear oversight report, and a proposal to increase TVA’s nuclear funding program funding limit.
